In high school, I had a season pass to Six Flags Magic Mountain, it is the closest amusement park to the 805. It was one of my favorite places to visit during the summer with my friends. I thought there was a short age span to enjoy Magic Mountain. I now know I was wrong. I once again have a season pass to Magic Mountain along with my wife and one of our kids. The other is too young to pay. We have enjoyed being season pass holders. What can Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia offer a 6 and 2 year old?
I can tell you each of the last three times we have gone to Magic Mountain, my six year experiences new attractions. My daughter is about 45 inches. The numerical cut offs for height are 36, 42, 48, and 56 inches. Since she is in the 42 to 48 inch range, she has experienced different rides for the first time. The first time it was the roller coasters like the Road Runner Express in the Bug’s Bunny area. The following time it was Ninja. This week, it was Jet Stream which was her favorite because according to her, she got wet. My wife on the other hand is complaining her shoes are still wet and developing a smell.
There is a more limited experience for my two year old. Particularly because there rarely is a show to catch at either the Golden Bear Theater, the Gearworks Theater, or most importantly, the Carrot Club Theater. I still remember the Batman show I watched at Magic Mountain. As cheesy and predictable the script was, the action scenes and fireworks made it original. Even as an adult, I am disappointed that I have yet to see a show this year. If I could pick one theater to run, it would be the Carrot Club Theater because it would provided added entertainment for the my two year old apart from the at least 8 rides my she was able to ride. She did very much enjoy the Grand Carousel, the Merrie Melodies Carousel, the Magic Flyer and Elmer’s Weather Balloons. The proud parent moment was when she pointed to the ride on the map she wanted to ride. We walked over to it and rode it. She got off and said, “con Abuela.” She remembered she had ridden it with her grandmother 2 months ago! We are building on her memories.
My older daughter has almost outgrown a lot of the rides in Bugs Bunny World, but she and my youngest were both pretty excited about running into characters and super heroes. My youngest could not keep her eyes off of the super heroes. A line quickly formed behind the characters as patrons wished to take pictures with them. I estimated the characters were out for about 30 minutes before they were whisked away. I wish more fans would have had a chance to take pictures with them.
My wife and I, our two daughters, and brother in law (12) spent almost 6 hours at Six Flags Magic Mountain together. The brother in law is the fourth guest we bring for free this year on ‘bring a friend for free’ day. There was something for each of us and it was quite enjoyable. After having gone three times in the last few months I realize there are still a few attractions I need to experience. X2 and Full Throttle, I will be seeing you soon! I am glad we have a season pass so I can go back. Now that I am a parent, I have learned about the ‘parent swap.’ Read below to find out what it is.
RDC
PARENT SWAP
Designed to accommodate groups with younger children who may not be tall enough to ride some rides or attractions. Here how it works: 1) The entire party should enter the ride queue. 2) When preparing to board, tell the Ride Attendant you are using the Parent Swap Program. 3) Children who are not tall enough to ride may wait at the exit with an adult from your party. 4) After the first ride is completed, the adult who waited with the child will be allowed to ride--Magic Mountain Site
